I avoided Pinterest for years telling myself that it was just 'one more thing' that would suck time into an abyss. I said that maybe once I finished my master's degree I would have time to take on a new social media outlet. Well, here I am a new Pinner and I will admit the site is convenient for keeping track of all of those interesting or creative ideas one comes across online. I had this idea that my stamping friends and I could plan a Stamp-a-Stack based on cards we had pinned. It was pretty nice for me to have some input as I typically just choose and design cards on my own. The only kicker was that some of these cards were a little more difficult than they looked--sometimes based on my lack of supplies that the original crafter used and other times simply because looks can be deceiving :-). For example--the tree card on the right uses an older two-step stamping set from Stampin' Up! called Trendy Trees. Adorable set, but rubber stamps and two-step stamping do not always cooperate. Even using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, some of us had some trouble getting everything in alignment. The silver 'Make-a-Wish' card was a crowd favorite BUT the fact that we had to make our own embossed vellum made it a little more labor-intensive than one might like. For those wanting to make that card again with SU's vellum, here is the link to see what that vellum paper pack is like. Having that paper would have saved us some time and energy. Personally, I'm frugal so I didn't mind embossing the vellum, but for women who are wanting to save time, the embossed paper is a lifesaver.
The 'Sending Good Thoughts' card was one that surprised some--it wasn't a favorite online, but was appreciated a little more in person. Because I didn't have a Calypso Coral marker, coloring that larger sentiment proved to be a little more difficult than I hoped, but by the end everyone managed to get her card made just fine ;-). The Fresh Prints Paper Stack is ADORABLE!! The papers are small--only 4.5" x 6.5", but the colors are very trendy right now and the patterns are really cute.
I keep threatening to never buy rubber stamps again since I'm a huge fan of Photopolymer, but Stampin' Up! reels me in with some of their sets and Perfect Pennants is definitely one of them. The bundle includes the framelits to cut out the banners and I must say this bundle is my favorite purchase from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I love how versatile the stamp set is--lots of variety in the images that are included. We used this set for two of the cards and I just can't say enough about it! Now is a good time to buy because it gets you super close to earning a Sale-a-Bration item as well!!

The other cards didn't give us too much trouble. I must say the Washi tape square card was probably my favorite. Such a simple card if you need one in a hurry. The 'enjoy' card was definitely a crowd favorite and I'm tempted to buy that Pansy Punch just so I can make more later. Thanks so much to my friend Kim Hall for providing the punch and stamp for the card since I didn't have those supplies! The patterned paper on that card was from my American Crafts stash--it's from their Metropolitan Marquee collection which has apparently been discontinued.
