Had a great weekend out of town visiting my mom as well as my brother's family--even got to pop in and visit one of my BFFs from elementary school for a little bit. Probably the best part was all of the great food I got to eat--went to one of my favorite Korean restaurants and also to Sweet Tomatoes! Unfortunately, with my travels and everything else going on with work (end of the quarter, an upcoming Stamp-a-Stack), I've had to put my Online Card Class on the back burner! I watched today's first video by Kristina Werner and it featured a technique using Copics to color on vellum to create a unique background. She used some Lawn Fawn alphabet dies to cut out a sentiment on her card front as well as some tiny hearts--it was super cute. I didn't really have any sentiment dies that I thought would work so I decided to use my Silhouette Cameo to cut something out instead. I figured it was time to send my #TEAMBEHAPPY gals another card BUT this one will have to be an e-card--the die-cutting didn't go as smoothly as one would hope so I cannot see myself making 6 of these. I saw that Online Card Classes offers a class on electronic cutting and I just might have to sign up for it! I feel like I'm not getting the best results with my Cameo and much of it is probably operator error. I went ahead and trimmed the card a little bit to try and salvage it after the die-cutting took on a life of its own and cut a little ways off from where I had it designed to cut. I used some shades of blue and green to color my vellum and then layered it behind the die cut. The little banner and sentiment are from one of my favorite Simon Says Stamp! sets designed by Kristina Werner and were a perfect fit. I feel like this needs some small embellishments and I think sequins would be perfect except for the fact that I don't have any. I think I need to go get some--I'm seeing them on everyone else's cards and they are a nice little accent. I hope to have some time tomorrow to watch some of the other technique videos from today's lesson and make another card soon!
